Dogs are gifts from the gods!
Only those who understand how to properly handle these gifts will recognize this.
Some eat their dogs, others torture and abuse them.
Others ignore or fear them, or see dogs as mere stimulus-response machines that must be stuffed with treats.
And others humanize them, lose balance in their care, and thus fail to do the dogs justice.
But when you engage in a communicative exchange with dogs that is appropriate for the dog, a successful interaction, you fully appreciate the uniqueness of this gift.
Dogs are the pure and reliable sources of joy .
If dogs aren’t, then it’s our fault—and only in the rarest of cases is it the dogs’ fault.
They enrich our lives; they’re ” over-the-counter antidepressants on four paws “
like no other animal can be.
Both through their joy and affection , and through their needs, like the need for plenty of exercise in the fresh air .
And if we engage with their characteristics, we can learn a lot from them through a special form of mindfulness meditation .
