Our body language is crucial for our dogs to understand us correctly and easily.
However, a large part of our body language is completely unconscious.
We can therefore only consciously control a small part.
What we can control, however, is our thoughts.
But we don’t always realize that we are no longer in the here and now, that our thoughts have wandered.
That’s why it’s helpful to check our posture.
Do we walk upright or hunched over?
Are our shoulder muscles relaxed or tense?
Are our arms and hands loose or tense?
Do we breathe in and out evenly and deeply, or shallowly and forcefully?
If we correct our tension, our dog will be able to read us better again.
And, just like us, will become more relaxed.
By regularly checking our posture, we also banish disturbing thoughts of right and wrong, of yesterday and tomorrow.
