… from animal welfare
You often hear the statement ” that dog is from an animal shelter, it can’t do that “. But what is meant is primarily ” … it can’t learn that (anymore). “
But the fascinating thing about dogs is that although their ability to learn new things decreases with age – just like with humans – it only ends with death.
The claim “a dog from an animal shelter can’t learn” is wrong and above all an excuse for a lack of will and/or competence to teach the dog something, to educate it.
But (compensatory) education is ALWAYS possible, even if it is not always easy. The claim that dogs from an animal shelter can no longer be educated is usually accompanied by the use of un–safety harnesses and long leads … which makes learning to walk on a leash, orientate yourself to people , etc. at the very least more difficult, if not impossible.
