Collar <=> Un-Safety Harness / Halti
The (!) goal in dog education should be to turn them into confident, social dogs that are oriented towards their owners ,
as opposed to being solitary “tractor machines” .
The use of a chest harness is justified, for example, in dog sledding, in order to optimize the transfer of power from the dog to the sled.
In normal life, however, an un-safety harness is a sign of a lack of will and/or ability to build a sustainable relationship with the dog , to become an ” important other ” for the dog, and to establish communication with the dog – even using a collar and leash.
And if you have turned your dog into a “ pulling machine ” thanks to the un-safety harness and notice that the power transmission is optimal in the sense that you cannot hold the dog, then you are taking the next step in the wrong direction – and using the Halti… A “ pulling MACHINE ” that you stuff full of treats in order to “condition” it or “positively reinforce it”.
